The Maleny Community Centre, with its distinctive crafted wooden doors, air-conditioned comfort, spacious dance floor and great acoustics, will be the activities hub of the festival.
For foodies, greenies and shopaholics: Maleny has you covered. This town has been the hub of healthy living and environmental awareness forever. We suggest you come early and explore Maleny as well as surrounding area.
Getting there: Maleny is a pleasant 90 minute drive from Brisbane and an easy drive from any location in Queensland and Northern NSW. For interstate and international dancers, Brisbane and, the closer Sunshine Coast Airports are both destinations with cheap flights at this time of year. A shuttle bus will transport you from the airport to the main street of Maleny. Check this site.

Accommodation: There are lots of places in the area - check this tourism site and airbnb. The festival falls within the School holidays so prices can be high. In addition, keep track of our facebook page for updates and information from other dancers.

The program. Activities start on Friday evening with a Tapas and Tango night at Sarah’s Unplugged. This restaurant is a reincarnation of the Upfront Club, where tango in Maleny started. To create more dance space, the outside of the restaurant will this year be available for “al fresco” dancing.

Saturday is devoted totally to dancing, starting at 10 am and ending with the evening “Golden Age” Milonga, featuring acclaimed Mendoza Quartet and DJ Chris Han.

On Sunday, it’s more dancing and more Mendoza Quartet! In addition to the interactive workshop with members of the quartet that has become a hallmark of this festival, there will be a special seminar on tango musicality. This has been included by request from dancers who thirst to know more about the music that underpins their exquisite experience of tango. The cost of the seminar is not included in the festival pass and is open to non-pass holders.

The weekend ends with a farewell milonga with our featured guest DJ Wendy, followed by dining, relaxing and perhaps more dancing at the nearby Cappriccio’s Italian Restaurant.
